Abstract (please use no less than 300 words to describe your proposal)

Wikipedia's ultimate goal is to provide reliable information on any worthy topic. However, in particular cases opinions on "what is true?" may vary vitally.

As a tyranny is not an answer, our open project needs a clear, possibly non-arbitrary method of establishing what is true, complete and well-balanced. Wikipedia calls the method a "Neutral Point of View". Unfortunately, we tend to have different ideas what "Neutral" means; some of us even propose a different way of picturing the truth.

In my short presentation I would like to highlight briefly a few such controversies:

  • what is the measure and context of "neutrality"?
  • Neutral Point of View and Scientific Point of View
  • Neutral Point of View and No Point of View
  • Single model vs. Multiple models (like different standards for science, religion and pop-culture articles).

What is important, different points of view may lead not only to differences in the served information, but also different methodologies and models of co-operation and writing the articles.

The presentation reflects its authors point of view.
